To provide an inexpensive ferrite magnet exhibiting excellent magnet characteristics in a region of stoichiometric composition and even in a region of slightly BaO rich or BaO and SrO rich composition than in the stoichiometric composition, and to provide its manufacturing method.
The ferrite magnet comprises a single phase of magneto-plumbite type crystal structure represented by a formula (A1-xRx)O-n[(Fe3+1-yFe2+y)2O3]. In the formula, A is at least one kind being selected from Ba and Sr and including Ba inevitably, R is at least one kind being selected from rare earth elements, x, y and n represent mol ratios, respectively, in the range of 0<x≤0.6, 0<y≤0.05, and 5.7≤n≤6.0. At the time of sintering, reducing atmosphere is controlled to produce the single phase of magneto-plumbite represented by the above-mentioned formula.
