Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make continuous multigradation display by the magnitude of the value of the impressed voltage of a ferroelectric liquid crystal panel.
CONSTITUTION: The ferroelectric liquid crystal has smectic layers 12 of a refracted structure. In addition, the smectic layers 12 are ≥2 kinds of the smectic layers varying in the refractive angle in the same pixel and further the smectic layers 12 are continuously changed in refractive angle 13 with the normal direction of the layers A. These continuous changes are arranged periodically in the normal direction of the layers.
