Abstract:
PURPOSE:To constitute a display part and a sound generation part by providing a single panel by providing driving electrodes for display and sound generation on the internal surfaces of substrate, ferroelectric liquid crystal charged in the gap of the substrates, and the display part and sound generation part constituted on the substrates. CONSTITUTION:Segment type driving electrodes are formed on the internal surface of the display part 1A of a front-side transparent substrate 2 and a common driving electrode which faces the driving electrode is formed on a rear-side substrate 3. Therefore, a voltage is applied to the common driving electrode and specific segment driving electrodes to display numerals. The driving electrodes 7 and 8 for sound generation are formed on the internal surfaces of the substrates 2 and 3 in opposite position relation with the sound generation part 1B. Therefore, a voltage is applied to both driving electrodes 7 and 8 to vibrate and displace the substrate 2 of the sound generation part 1B according to the piezoelectric effect of the ferroelectric liquid crystal 5, thereby generating a sound. Consequently, the single panel is provided with a display function and a sound generating function.
