Abstract:
To provide a ferronickel smelting method using wood pellets which can substitute the wood pellets for a part of coal input in a rotary kiln in ferronickel smelting.
The ferronickel smelting method includes a process for calcining nickel oxidized ore in the rotary kiln, and then a process for sending the obtained calcined ore in an electric furnace and reducing. In the calcining process in the rotary kiln, in inputting coal from a raw material input port or in the middle between the raw material input port and a calcined ore discharge port of the rotary kiln, at least one kind of the wood pellets selected from a white pellet, bark pellet, or whole-wood pellet is used as a substitute for at least a part of the coal.
