PURPOSE: To improve the connection loss and reliability of an optical connector by controlling the bending of an optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: The coating at the end part of the fiber is removed to specific length to expose an optical fiber 61. Then, a coated optical fiber 6 whose coating end part is rounded is inserted into the ferrule 1 which is made of metal which is under relatively small influence of temperature variation, i.e. stainless steel and has a fine fiber insertion hole 41, a coated fiber insertion hole 42, a tapered hole 13, a stepped hole 44, and tapered holes 43 and 45 and then the fiber 6 is fixed with a resin adhesive while aligned by making the rounded coating end part of the coated optical fiber 6 to abut on the tapered hole 45. Consequently, the fiber is prevented from being bent.
