Abstract:
PURPOSE: To disuse a tension pulley for maintaining the tension of a transmission belt in a belt-type continuously variable transmission of such constitution that the transmission belt is wound around a first and a second divided pulleys and that the spacing of the pulley parts of the first and second divided pulleys are changed to perform speed change operation.
CONSTITUTION: A belt-type continuously variable transmission is provided with operating mechanism 18 for pushing the pulley parts 9, 10 of a first or a second divided pulley 7 or 8 in the direction of bringing them close to each other according to transmission load applied to the second divided pulley 8 on the transmission lower side, and it is so set that the force of the operating mechanism 18 going to bring the pulley parts 9, 10 close to each other is larger than the force of the pulley parts 9, 10 going to separate from each other by the tension of a transmission belt 6. The tension of the transmission belt 6 is thereby maintained not by a tension pulley but by the operating mechanism 18.
