Title:
FIBER ARRAY, FOR OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3368780
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide fiber array capable of preventing the concentration of stress to the roots of exposed parts of optical fibers, and its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: In the optical waveguide fiber array formed by fixing optical fibers 1 to be connected to optical waveguide elements in array-like grooves 3 formed on a substrate 2 by the use of adhesive, the roots of the exposed parts of respective fibers 1 are covered with soft organic group adhesive 7, so that even when the substrate 2 is expanded/contracted due to temperature change or the like, the fibers 1 are expanded/contracted together with the adhesive 7 and stress is eased, so that the fibers 1 are not bent on the roots of the exposed parts and the increment of optical loss due to the concentration of stress can be prevented.
