Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the production of hardware by controlling the load congestion of a cell switch means which divides a variable length frame into cells of fixed length to perform the exchange of these cells, storing temporarily the original frame that is reconfigured from the cells of fixed length and performs the exchange of data for each cell of the fixed length.
SOLUTION: The fiber channel interface control means 10 to 13 control the fiber channel protocols and temporarily store the frames received from the final node or other fabrics into the input data buffer means 20 to 23. Each of cell generation means 40 to 43 divides a received frame into cells of fixed length, and a cell switch means 60 exchanges data for each cell of the fixed length. The frame assembling means 50 to 53 reconfigure the original frame from the cells of fixed length outputted from the means 60 and temporarily store the original frame in the output data buffer means 30 to 33 respectively. Furthermore, a congestion management means 70 monitors the means 60 and controls the suppression of congestion.
