Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber guide having excellent abrasion resistance, with which fiber is hard to be damaged, by forming a fiber guide of ceramics, which is mainly composed of the composite oxide of a 2a group element of the periodic table and Ti.
SOLUTION: A fiber guide 1 made of ceramics, which is mainly composed of the composite oxide of a 2a group element of the periodic table and Ti. Namely, TiO2 as simple substance, which has low sintering property, is inappropriate for fiber guide 1, but MTiO2 which is the composite oxide of MO (M means one kind of a 2a group element of the periodic table such as Ba, Ca, Mg, Sr) and TiO2 can be used as main component so as to improve the sintering property and reduce the void. This ceramics has Vickers hardness at 600-900kg/mm2, and it is used for the fiber guide 1 having excellent abrasion resistance, and its is hard to give a damage to fiber 2. Especially, Ba is optimal as a 2a group element of the periodic table, and the ceramic, which is formed of crystal phase of BaTiO3 mainly composed of BaO at 10-30wt.% and Ti at 60-90wt.%, is desirable.
