Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber laser having a special wavelength band having oscillating characteristics of a high efficiency and a high output and amplifying characteristics of a high efficiency by using a fluoride fiber in which thulium is added to a core as a gain medium, and using a light having a special wavelength band as an exciting light.
CONSTITUTION: An exciting light of 1.06μm band is incident from a titanium sapphire laser of an exciting light source 10 to one end of a thulium-doped fluoride fiber 1 as a gain medium through a dichroic mirror 2 and a collimator lens 3. The lens 3 and a mirror 4 having a reflectivity of 100% for a laser oscillation wavelength of 1.47μm are disposed at the other end side of the fiber 1. A laser resonator is formed of the mirror 4 and an end face of the fiber 1 of an exciting light incident side. The exciting light is reflected on the mirror 2, incident to the fiber 1 through the lens, and an oscillating light of 1.47μm band is emitted through the mirror 2.
