Abstract:

To obtain a parameter of groove depth in an optimum design of the thickness of a rib which is a major factor for reducing the outer diameter of an optical fiber cable and to provide an optical fiber cable in which the parameter is taken into consideration.

In the optical fiber cable, the depth of grooves is denoted by h, the thickness of each rib between the groove bottom corners of a plurality of optical fiber ribbon housing grooves is denoted by b, the clearance of the groove depth which gives the allowable deformation quantity of cables is denoted by L, when L is a fixed set value and h is set to be a fixed value not smaller than 1.8 mm and smaller than 4.5 mm, b is given as a function of h by b≥Ah3/(L-B), where A and B are constants, respectively, and b is not larger than 0.95 mm.
