Abstract:
To provide a method (700) for applying a barrier coating (242) to a component (100).
There is provided a method (700) including a step (701) of providing a component (100) and a step (703) of preparing a mixture-containing slurry (250). The mixture includes a barrier coating composition (242) having a volume fraction of about 50-90% and two or more short fibers (240) having a volume fraction of 10-50%. The method (700) additionally includes a step (705) of applying at least one layer of the slurry (250) to at least part of the component (100), and a step (707) of curing the slurry (250)on part of component (100) to obtain a fiber reinforced barrier coating (200).
