Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the fiber reinforced ceramic composite which can exhibit good mechanical characteristic and particularly a high-toughness value at all times by more adequately improving the boundary state between a ceramic matrix and fibers for reinforcement.

CONSTITUTION: This fiber reinforced ceramic composite consists of the Si ceramic matrix 1 and the fibers for reinforcement which are dispersed and incorporated into the Si ceramic matrix 1 and are at least partly C as essential components. Metal silicides 3 are segregated and interposed at the boundaries between the above-mentioned fibers 2 for reinforcement and the ceramic matrix 1.
