To provide a fiber-reinforced composite material being light and having excellent impact resistance, compared with conventional carbon fiber-reinforced composite materials, and also having excellent performance of preventing scattering of the material and a good appearance after processing.
The fiber-reinforced composite material consists of a fiber-reinforced resin sheet of a weight content of the resin of 30-70% composed of a fabric of a basis weight of 50-500 g/m2 containing carbon fibers as reinforcing fibers and a matrix resin of a thermosetting resin and a thermoplastic resin layer joined with and laminated on one side of the fiber-reinforced resin sheet. The thermoplastic resin layer includes a fabric of a high-strength and high elastic modulus organic fiber yarn of a size of 800-20,000 dtex. The fiber-reinforced composite material can be obtained as a molding by superimposing the thermoplastic resin sheet, the fabric and the thermoplastic resin sheet in order at least on one side of the fiber-reinforced resin sheet and subjecting the superimposed product to vacuum molding while heating at a temperature below the melting point of the thermoplastic resin.
