Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber reinforced metallic composite material having excellent specific strength, specific rigidity and heat resistance, high hardness and high wear resistance by using an Al alloy having a specified compsn. as a matrix and specified inorg. or org. fibers as a reinforcing material.

CONSTITUTION: A high strength heat resistant Al alloy having a compsn. represented by a general formula AlaPbQc (where P is at least one among Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and W, Q is at least one among Fe, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn, 10≤a≤99.8 atomic %, 0.1≤b≤80 atomic % and 0.1≤c≤55 atomic %) is used as a matrix. The Al alloy is an amorphous body or an amorphous- microcrystalline combined body. Carbonaceous inorg. fibers partially having graphite structure, continuous org. fibers of a synthetic linear polymer having arom. groups bonded through amide bonds or continuous inorg. fibers of Y-Al2O3, SiO2, B2O3, an aggregate of microcrystals having Al-Si spinel structure or an aggregate of microcrystals of c(-A1,0, are used as a reinforcing material to obtain a fiber reinforced lightweight high strength metallic composite material.
