PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber-reinforced metallic composite material excellent in electrical characteristics, heat resistance and surface hardness and significantly increase the mechanical strength thereof by using a surface-treated fly ash fiber.

CONSTITUTION: A fiber-reinforced metallic composite material contg. a fly ash fiber or a fly ash fiber with the surface treated by electroless plating, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, electrophoretic deposition or plasma spraying as a reinforcement is appropriately produced by a hot compaction method.
