Title:
FIBER REINFORCED METALLIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS616245
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber reinforced metallic composite material having strength corresponding to ≥70% of the theoretical value by incorporating Zn into Al or an Al alloy as the matrix of a fiber reinforced metallic composite material.

CONSTITUTION: A fiber reinforced metallic composite material is composed of a metal as the matrix and reinforcing fibers buried in the matrix. Fibers of at least one between carbon and silicon carbide are used as the reinforcing fibers, and Al or an Al alloy contg. ≤40wt%, especially 10W30wt% Zn as the matrix is infiltrated into the fibers. The reinforcing fibers have ≥50kg/mm2, especially ≥70kg/mm2 tensile strength.
