Title:
FIBER REINFORCED METALLIC MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3035648
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a material excellent in mechanical strength and heat resistance by compounding titanate fibers composed of a specified compsn. and having pores of specified volume on the inside of whiskers into Al or an Al alloy.
SOLUTION: A preform essentially consisting of titanate fibers is molded, and the molten metal of Al or an Al alloy impregnated into a die under pressure to obtain a fiber-reinforced metallic material. The titanate fibers are expressed by AvBawM1xM2yTi8-zO16. In the formula, A denotes at least one kind among Alkali metals, M denotes at least one kind selected from Mg, Co, Ni, Zn, Cu and Mn, and M denotes at least one kind selected from Al, Sc, Cr, Fe and Ga. Also, 0.5≤2x+y≤2.5, 2x+y=v+2w and z=x+y are satisfied, where the cases in which both (w) and (x) are zero, A is composed of K and M2 is composed of Al are excepted. Furthermore, pores of 0 to 70vol.% are allowed to contain at the inside of the whiskers.
