To prevent jumping out of a core fiber layer and occurrence of the contact surface of drum and sheave even under severe conditions of tension and bending action in the whole length through a small-diameter drum and a large number of small-diameter guide rollers and to provide a fiber rope having a low elongation to load and high tenacity.

The fiber rope includes a core fiber layer and a braided outer fiber layer covering the core fiber layer and has an effective sectional area ratio and a core fiber layer content in a region enclosed by A, B and C in a figure exhibiting a relation between the effective sectional area ratio (%) and the core fiber content (%) shown as Fig.1 in an attached drawing.
