PURPOSE: To accurately detect an inspecting position by alternately fitting two kinds of reflecting rings having different reflecting characteristics respectively with a prescribed width along the longitudinal direction of an optical fiber body to form a stripe-like pattern.
CONSTITUTION: Two kinds of reflecting rings 7, 8 having different reflecting characteristics are alternately fitted to the outer periphery of an optical fiber body 1 from is leading end up to its base end along the longitudinal direction to form then stripe-like pattern 9 on the outer periphery of the body 1. The width size of respective reflecting rings 7, 8 is set up to the same value and is lightness difference between white and black or the like is set up as the difference of the reflecting characteristics. When infrared rays are projected to the pattern 9 of the body 1, reflected light rays reflected from the reflecting rings 7,8 are different in accordance with the reflecting rings 7, 8. In case of inspecting an abnormal position of a pipe or the like by inserting a fiber scope into the pipe or the like, the number of reflecting rings is successively read out from the leading end of the body 1 up to an insertion port of the pipe or the like. Consequently, the position of a portion to be inspected such as an abnormal position can be accurately detected.
