Abstract:
To obtain an extra fine fiber structure which is safe even if released to the environment and to provide a method for producing the same.
The fiber structure is obtained by dissolving zein protein in a solvent consisting essentially of ethanol to give a solution, spinning the solution by an electrostatic spinning method, accumulating fibers on a collection base plate under condition that fibers having ≤1 micrometer average fiber diameter and ≤20 micrometer fiber length are not included. The structure is favorably used as a catalyst carrier, a cell carrier and a microorganism carrier.
