To enhance heat resistance, chemical resistance, etc., and to enable freely attachable, to prevent the lowering of transmittability of external signals and the generating of noise and detachable fixation with high adhesive force by disposing a covering consisting of a thermosetting resin on an optical fiber written with a grating.
Part of the covering 3 of the coated optical fiber 1 formed by applying the covering 3 of a UV curing type resin, etc., on the optical fiber 2, such as a quartz optical fiber, is removed over a length of, for example, 1 to 2 cm, by which the internal optical fiber 2 is exposed. The grating is written at the exposed optical fiber 2 and the covering 5 consisting of the thermosetting resin, such as a polyamide resin or fluororesin, is applied again on its surface. The thermosetting resin is used as a recoating material for the surface of the optical fiber 2 written with the grating in the manner described above, by which the heat resistance, strength and the transmittability of external signals are improved and the generation of noise by the property differences between the covering 5 and the optical fiber 2 is suppressed.
