To provide a manufacturing method for a fibre-reinforced intermediate suitable for a thermoplastic processing including compounding and molding processes.
A manufacturing method consists of a process in which continuous fibres are impregnated with a resin composition containing at least one kind of radiation-polymerizable component, a process in which the impregnated fibres are exposed to radiation to effect the polymerization of such a component and a process in which a product thus formed is constituted to form a thermoplastically processable intermediate. The thermoplastically processable intermediate is mixed, if necessary, with one polymer and/or other additive during the mixing process or the molding process. In the method, an uncut radiation polymerization fibre resin composition is blended with at least one polymer and/or an additive in a continuous mixer such as an extruder, and in some cases, the mixed composition is cut to manufacture the thermoplastically processable intermediate such as moldable pellets.
