Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture the fibriform activated carbon particularly proper to remove ozone by carrying a specified amount of the metallic chelate compound consisting of specified metal to the fibriform activated carbon having a specified property.

CONSTITUTION: One kind or two kinds or more of metals selected from theIb group, the IIb group, the VI a group, the VIIa group and VIIIgroup in the periodic table of the elements, particularly, Cu, Ag, Zn, Cd, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Pd and Fe, are preferable as the metals constituting the metallic chelate compound, and ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid, etc. are used as a chelating agent. It is preferable that the fibriform activated carbon is obtained from a substance such as polyacrylonitrile, its specific surface is 300W2,000M2/g, its benzene adsorption velocity constant is 0.2/min or higher, and it carries the metallic chelate compound by 0.01W20wt%. its fiber strength is 15kg/mm2 or higher, and its fiber diameter is 3W25μ. Accordingly, the fibriform activated carbon, which efficiently removes harmful objects in gas and has long life, is obtained at low cost.
