To provide an image display device having a hot electron type electron source, displaying an image by a line-sequential driving system, prevented from unevenness of brightness along scanning lines.
In the hot electron type electron source, a power supply wiring of an upper electrode is applied as a scanning line, and a lower electrode is applied as a signal line. A sheet resistance of the power supply wiring of the upper electrode is lower than that of the lower electrode. By the above, the wiring sheet resistance of the scanning line becomes possible to reduce as low as a few m/?, and the voltage drop generated at the scanning line can be restrained in allowable range even in the case of constructing an FED with a large display surface of 40 inch by utilizing the hot electron type electron source, and an image of high quality without unevenness of brightness can be obtained.
