PURPOSE: To provide a filament winding method and a device therefor obtaining a maintenance system that can grasp the present condition of a winding device in operation by detecting the vibrational information of the winding device at appropriate timing, and processing and editing this information in an optimum method.

CONSTITUTION: A winding device 1 is provided with a vibration pickup sensor mounted thereon to take in the information of vibration generated from the winding device 1. This vibrational information is sent and stored in a center station 5 through an LAN 4 and the like. A host computer 8 outputs a filament switching command when a filament in course of being wound to the winding device 1 reaches the specified wound quantity. According to this command, the center station 5 processes the vibration value from the vibration pickup sensor in a predetermined form after the fixed time when the rotating state of the winding spindle of the winding device 1 becomes stable, and stores it in a storage device 6. This stored information is suitably outputted to a printer 7, a display device 10, and the like.
