To obtain a filler which shows a specified or smaller difference between the weights before and after irradiation with an oxygen plasma and irradiation with a CF4 plasma under specified conditions, which filler has thermally and chemically stable aromatic rings in the main chain and has a specified or higher heat resistance temperature.
This filler shows a difference of at most 4 mg/cm2 between the weights before and after irradiation with an oxygen plasma and with a CF4 plasma under conditions including a flow rate of 200 scm, a pressure of 280 mTor, an RF electric power of 400 W, and an irradiation time of 54 min, has aromatic rings in the main chain, and has a heat resistance temperature of at least 150°C. It is desirable that the filler is a synthetic polymer having amide bonds or imide bonds in the main chain. The synthetic polymer is exemplified by a polyimide or a polyamide-imide. It is desirable that the crosslinkable elastomer composition is one which comprises 100 pts.wt. crosslinkable elastomer, 1-150 pts.wt. above filler, and 0.05-10 pts.wt. crosslinking agent and in which the crosslinkable elastomer is a fluoro or silicone elastomer.
