PURPOSE: To obtain a filler for a high speed chromatography, by using synthetic macromolecules as fillers in a chromatography in which polyethylene glycol is used as a sample and water as an eluate, and selecting such macromolecules among the mentioned macromolecules that have sample eluting time prolonging behaviors as the temperature rises and that permit separating hydrophilic substances at a high accuracy.
CONSTITUTION: A polymerization catalyst and a suspension stabilizer are added to a monomer, such as ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, tetramethylolmethane triacrylate, or ethylene glycol diacrylate. The resulting mixture is subjected to water suspension polymerization as it is agitated, to obtain polymerized particles having a particle size of 5W200 microns. These particles are dried, and the dried particles are dispersed into water to check them as to whether they get wet. Such particles that are wetted with water are collected and used as fillers in a chromatography in which polyethylene glycol is used as a sample and water as an eluate. Among the particles used in this chromatography, particles which have sample eluting time prolonging behaviors as the temperature rises are selected. The polymerized particles thus selected are used as fillers for a high speed liquid chromatography.
