Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep bedding and interior safe, hygienic, and healthy free from side effects of extracts by the application to cotton of extracts from trees of cypress family having antibacterial, anti-mold, deodorizing, and anti-insect properties.
SOLUTION: As an extract, one containing main ingredient of hinokitiol is used which is extracted from trees of cypress family such as Aomori (Japanese) Hiba cypress, Taiwanese cypress, and Japanese Asunaro cypress. Cotton may be either natural or synthetic, or heat fusion property fibers mixed with cotton, or further so-called solid cotton made by thermoforming the mixed cotton. To apply the extract uniformly over the cotton, the extract is dissolved into water or an appropriate organic solvent such as ethanol and ether so that dilution liquid is applied. While the dilution ratio of solvent to salute is not specifically limited, it is preferably 300 to 1000. The application amount is preferably in the range of 0.003 to 0.05 grams of equivalent 100% extract per square meter of cotton. Furthermore, application is preferably as uniform as possible over the cotton surface. For that purpose, application by spraying is preferable.
