PURPOSE: To obtain the subject filler giving a product free from warpage, etc., in calcination stage and suitable for the painting of a pottery product in grain pattern, etc., by drying and crushing a slurry composed mainly of a porcelain body added with a binder and a pigment and granulating the crushed mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A pigment is added to and homogeneously mixed into a slurry composed mainly of a pottery body such as pottery stone, clay or feldspar and a binder (e.g., methylcellulose) is added to the mixture. The obtained slurry is dried to a solid, crushed with a crusher, granulated and sieved to obtain the objective filler for the painting of a pottery product and having a prescribed particle diameter. The components of the obtained filler can be made similar to those of the slurry for forming the pottery product. Accordingly, the painting filler is similar to the pottery body in the properties such as burning shrinkage and water-absorption. The defects such as warpage and cut after burning are decreased and the finishing of the dried product can be easily carried out.
