To supply molten metal and to stop the supply more accurately in timing with operation to supply the molten metal and stop the supply by an electromagnetic pump, and also to prevent oxidization of the molten metal.
A filling apparatus for molten metal into a die casting sleeve includes a molten metal nozzle 30 provided in an injection sleeve 20 of a die casting machine 21, and a molten metal electromagnetic pump 10 which supplies the molten metal to the molten metal nozzle 30. A weir 29 that the molten metal overflows is provided at a part extending from the side of the molten metal electromagnetic pump 10 to the side of the molten metal nozzle 30, and the molten metal nozzle 30 is provided with a gas nozzle 27 which blows inert gas to the molten metal supplied from the molten metal nozzle to the injection sleeve 20. The molten metal nozzle 30 is provided with a level gauge 19 which detects the level of the molten metal supplied to the injection sleeve 20 based on a height of an overflow over the weir 29, and operations of the molten metal electromagnetic pump 10 and gas nozzle 27 are controlled while confirming an amount of the molten metal supplied to the injection sleeve 20.
