PURPOSE: To load a film speedily and automatically by means of a simple operation by providing the film carrier with a film rewind control means which controls in such a way that a film is not rewound until a film carry control means once instructs to stop carrying the film or to take it up at the end of automatic loading.

CONSTITUTION: The film carrier is provided with a supply shaft 2 to which an almost roll-like microfilm F is mounted, a take-up shaft 3 which takes up the film F from the supply shaft 2, a controller 4 as a film carry control means which controls the carry of the film F, and a control circuit 5 as the film rewind control means which controls film rewind. The film is not rewound until the film carry control means 4 once instructs to stop carrying the film or to take it up at the end of automatic loading of the film; therefore, rewind of the film onto the supply shaft 2, which is caused by malfunction, does not occure at the end of automatic loading. Thus, the film can be speedily and automatically loaded by means of the simple operation.
