To provide a filter apparatus suited for collecting oil mist of a size of about 0.1-10 m particle diameter produced during cutting a part with a machine tool.
An exhaust port 4 is formed at the center of the bottom of a case 2, an air inlet 10 for feeding mist-containing air is provided on the side of the case 2, and a first holder 25 is vertically erected in the case 2 in a manner to surround the exhaust port 4. A second holder 38 and a third holder 40 are disposed concentrically with the first holder 25, a first filter 31 made from a folded nonwoven fabric of 1-0.1 m mesh is fitted to the outside of the first holder 25, and a second filter 38 made from a folded nonwoven fabric of 3-5 m mesh is fitted to the outside of the second holder 35, and a third filter 43 made from a folded nonwoven fabric of 30-50 m mesh is fitted to the outside of the third holder 40. The exhaust pipe 5 is secured to the suction side of a suction means.
