Abstract:
Filtering and/or stabilizing fluids,especially beer comprises coating the outer surface (20) of a filter candle made from spirally wound wire with a filter auxiliary aid; and feeding the non-filtrate via the precoated layer (22) through the gap between the wire windings to produce the filtrate. The outer surface of the wire winding has a width b of less than 1 mm and the gap between the windings on the outer surface of the candle is 0.03-0.08 mm. An independent claim is also included for a filter candle for carrying out the process. Preferred Features: The outer surfaces lie parallel to the longitudinal axis of the candle or are inclined at an angle alpha on the longitudinal axis of the candle.
