To regenerate a fouled filter by cleaning.
A fouled filter 10 to be cleaned is supplied to a specified position on an alignment table 6. A control panel 7 is given a command for transporting the filter 10 to an ultrasonic cleaning tank 4 and a rinsing tank 5 from a filter 10 holding position and returning the filter 10 after cleaning. A mobile truck 2 is transferred to a position above the filter 10 holding position, then the filter 10 is pulled up as it is held by a clamp plate 20 on a handling device 3, and is transported to a position above the ultrasonic cleaning tank 4. The handling device 3 stopped above the ultrasonic cleaning tank 4 soaks the filter 10 into the ultrasonic cleaning tank 4 as the filter 10 is pressed from above by a retaining plate 21. Further, the filter 10 is cleaned by applying an ultrasonic wave. After the completion of ultrasonic cleaning, the filter 10 is transferred to the rinsing tank 5 to remove a cleaning liquid, and then is returned to the original holding position. This filter cleaning device is neatly packed on a common base plate 8, so that the device is easily transferable.
