To improve dust peeling/catching functions by forming a filter cloth for a bag filter for exhaust gas attached to a municipal waste incinerator, etc., with poly (phenylene sulfide) fibers of a specified size incorporated at least into the surface layer of the cloth.
In a filter cloth which is used appropriately for a bag filter, poly(phenylene sulfide) fibers 1.8d or less in size are incorporated in the surface layer of the cloth. The average size of fibers in the filter cloth is preferably varied between the surface and the back to form a grade in size. This can be accomplished by laminating two layers of different fiber sizes, and the ratio of the sizes is regulated to be 1.1-40. For example, when needle punched felt on both sides of which are laminated short fiber webs is used as the filter cloth, the size of fibers in the surface side web is regulated be 1.8d or less, while the size of fibers on the back side is made to exceed 1.8d to obtain the filter cloth having the grade in size.
