To provide filter cloth which is made solid even when the filter cloth is used in a filter press on which large mechanical load is imposed, the productivity of which is made excellent and the edge of which is prevented from fraying.
This filter cloth consists of a woven fabric. A warp thread of the ground weave of the woven fabric consists of a synthetic fiber A the melting point or decomposition temperature of which is Ta and a weft thread consists of a synthetic fiber B the melting point or decomposition temperature of which is Tb. A synthetic fiber C the surface of which is melted at a temperature Tc lower than Ta and Tb by ≥10°C is arranged in at least a part of the warp threads in the edge part of the woven fabric. This filter cloth is obtained by heat-treating the woven fabric at a temperature equal to or higher than Tc and lower than Ta and Tb to fuse the edge parts. Such a two-component conjugated fiber is used as the synthetic fiber C that a synthetic resin C having a melting point Tc is used as a low melting point component and a synthetic resin D having a melting point Td higher than Tc by ≥10°C is used as a high melting point component. Such a core-sheath conjugated fiber is preferably used as the synthetic fiber C that the synthetic resin C is used as a sheath component and the synthetic resin D is used as a core component.
