To provide an apparatus for detecting the position of filter cloth in a filter press, which enables detection with high precision independently from the in site atmosphere of a field (e.g. pumping station) and the like.
A support guide 25 arranged along a filter plate 5 in parallel thereto is provided with a pressure sensitive switch 26, a base end section of the detection lever 27 is pivotally fitted to the upper part of the filter plate 5 in a removable manner. An ascending and descending rod 29 connected to the detection lever 27 is provided swingable in conjunction with the ascending and descending of an upper filter cloth core metal 11 of filter cloth 7. When the filter cloth 7 descends, the pressure sensitive switch 26 is pressed by the detection lever 27. Thus, highly precise detection can be always stably performed without the effects of oxidation or extraneous matter resulting from the in site atmosphere of a field (e.g., treatment liquids, steam, gases, and mine dust).
