To provide a filter device for a camera capable of preventing a filter plate attached to a filter blade from being damaged, although the filter device is provided with the filter blade and a balance blade which are simultaneously rotated in directions opposite to each other by a drive pin.

The filter plate 16 is attached to one surface of the filter blade 14, so as to cover the opening 14a of the filter blade 14 and the filter blade 14 is rotatably attached to a blade attachment shaft 11c erected on a base plate 11. The balance blade 15 having a relief hole 15a is arranged to overlap with the one surface of the filter blade 14 and rotatably attached to a blade attachment shaft 11d erected on the base plate 11. Although the filter blade 14 and the balance blade 15 are simultaneously reciprocatively rotated in the directions opposite to each other by the drive pin 17b, the filter plate 16 always exists in the area of the relief hole 15a, so that the filter plate 16 does not come into slide contact with the balance blade 15 and is never damaged.
