To provide a filter material which has an excellent ozone removing function and is hardly worn or burned during the use and reduce the pressure loss of the filter material by using polyarylene sulfide resin having a specified yellow index and specific surface area.
A filter material is made of polyarylene sulfide resin having 40 or lower yellow index and 10m2/g or higher specific surface area and it is preferable for the material to be granular and alkaline. The polyarylene sulfide resin is an aromatic polymer having arylene group and sulfide resin in the molecular chain and produced by reacting an alkali metal sulfide and polyhalo aromatic compound such as a halogen-substituted aromatic compound in a polar organic solvent. Consequently, the resultant material is hardly worn and burned and even in the case the filter material is built in an ozone removing apparatus, the pressure loss is low and the life terminal of the filter can be observed with eyes.
