PURPOSE: To effectively remove ammonia within a short period of time by distributing the pore size of a filter material made of porous ceramic adsorbing and fixing bacteria in water to a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: In a porous ceramic filter material adsorbing and fixing bacteria in water, the pore size thereof is distributed to 0.1-1μm and 10-100μm. By providing pores with a pore size of 10-100μm proper for the propagation of bonded bacteria and pores with a pore size of 0.1-1μm easily adsorbing and fixing bacteria to the filter material at the same time, a period effectively removing ammonia is shortened by this filter material. It is unnecessary to use a special method in a case using the ceramic filter material in a water purifying apparatus 4 and a container is packed with produced ceramics with a particle size of 5-20mm to form a filter bed and water is circulated by a pump 3 so as to be passed through the filter bed.
