To provide a filter medium regeneration apparatus having a high ability to separate a filter medium from a pollutant and having a high regeneration capacity as a filter medium regeneration apparatus used in a moving bed filter where a filter medium is withdrawn from a filtration tank, a pollutant is removed from a filter medium, and the regenerated filter medium is returned to the tank.
In the filter medium regeneration apparatus in which withdrawing the filter medium 12 of a moving bed filter where raw water is allowed to enter a filtration tank 10 and to pass a filter medium layer 14 to be purified, is drawn out from the tank 10, the adherent pollutant is separated from the medium 12, and they are separated from each other in a filter medium storage and separation tank 34, and the regenerated filter medium is returned to the tank 10, the tank 34 which constitutes the main element is of a liquid cyclone type so as to forcibly separate the medium 12 from the pollutant by centrifugation in the tank 34.
