PURPOSE: To present the generation of contaminations, such as scale, on the surface of the tube-shaped filter membrane.
CONSTITUTION: The filter membrane constituted of a tubular external pressure type membrane has a tubular ceramic base material layer 21 and a silane coupling material layer 22 formed on the outside surface of this tubular ceramic base material layer 21. Since the silane coupling material has a hydrophobic property, its surface is resistant to staining. The ceramic base material layer 21 is eventually surface treated by the silane coupling material layer 22 and, therefore, the clogging thereof is prevented. The contamination on the surface of the filter membrane is thus substantially prevented and the generation of the clogging is substantially prevented as well.
