To provide a filter press capable of shortening the time needed for discharging cake and facilitating its maintenance by devicing its structure, thereby improving the exfoliation of the cake.
This filter press is constituted so that a filter plate (4) is composed of a diaphragm (10) for forming a flat concave supporting bed (11) and a core plate (8) for forming a filtering bed (13) and a sealing surface (14) of the peripheral part into planar shapes and filter cloth (54) is hung on the filtering bed (13) of the core plate (8). As a result, the cake contacted directly with the diaphragm (10) can be exfoliated easily from the flat supporting bed and pressed to the filter cloth when the diaphragm (10) is expanded. When the adjacent filter plates (4, 4) are separated from each other, the exfoliated cake drops by its own weight from the filter cloth (54) hung on the side of the filtering bed of the planar core plate (8). Since the filter cloth (54) is hung in a planar state, the filter cloth (54) can be used even when hardened.
