Title:
FILTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3109660
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the movement of pleats so that wear of a filter is minimized by providing an opening in a lap and making the total area of the opening smaller than about a half of the total area of an outer peripheral face connecting the tops of the pleats.
SOLUTION: This filter 10 is provided with a lap member 30 with an opening for circulating a fluid which is helically wound around a filter element 20. The lap member 30 is constituted of a strip 31 of a flexible material and also an internal opening formed by helical gaps 32, between adjacent windings, which are present at a wider pitch than the width of the strip 31. The total area of the opening as the gaps 32 is substantially less than about half the total area of the surface sectioned by the top parts of the pleats. Consequently, it is possible to restrain the movement of the pleats and thereby minimize the wear of the filter 10. In turn, the use life of the filter 10 can be prolonged.
