Title:
FILTERING EFFICIENCY MEASURING METHOD FOR FILTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3206859
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure the filtering efficiency in a short time without requiring any microscopic observation by measuring the particle size distribution of a sample suspension before and after passing through a filter by means of a particle size distribution meter.
CONSTITUTION: A sample suspension 1 is placed in a tank A and fed at a constant rate to a filter 2 fixed to the holder of housing by means of a pump 3 and the sample suspension 4 passed through the filter 2 is collected in another tank B. The suspensions 1, 4 are sampled sequentially through sampling cocks 5, 6 and respective sample liquids S are measured by means of a scattering particle size meter disposed at a measuring section M. Filtering efficiency E(d) of the filter 2 is determined according to a formula; E(d)={Fo(d)[Lo(da)/Lf(da)].- Ff(d)}/Fo(d) using the measured particle size distribution data Fo(d), Ff(d) of the suspensions 1, 4 and the accumulated distribution value Lo(da), Lf(da) of particle size Da before and after passing through the filter.
