A finned masher roll device presses and removes burrs, generated at cutting surfaces at the time of trimming of steel strip edges, by a tapered front end 1a of a finned masher roll 1. At least at the tip of the finned masher roll 1 placed beneath the steel strip 2 is installed a guide roll 12 for the steel strip 2. The guide roll 12 is set up rotatably against the finned masher roll 1. EFFECT:The device has a simple structure which does not necessitate a position adjustment apparatus in the width direction of the steel strip, and is capable of effectively preventing flopping of the steel strip even if the steel strip may have defective shape and thus preventing scratching of the steel strip surface.
