Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a checkout device which enables a single person to register the commodities, etc., and also can improve his working efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: The checkout device is provided with a belt conveyor 23 which carries the commodities, a start button 31 which starts the operation, a display 33 which displays the jobs, a height measuring device 26 which measures the height of each commodity, an image pickup camera 27 which photographs the commodities, a 1st counter which counts the commodities that are measured by the device 26 and photographed by the camera 27, a bar code scanner 28 which varies the focal distance, etc., and then reads and decodes the bar codes of the passing commodities, a 2nd counter which counts the registered commodities, and a POS terminal 67 which processes the images received from the camera 27 to decide the positions, the sizes, etc., of the commodities, registers the commodities based on the commodity data given from the scanner 28, and decides the end of registration of the commodities after an end button 32 is operated and when the coincidence of count value is confirmed between the 1st and 2nd counters.
