PURPOSE: To provide a fire escape apparatus for safe shelter at the time of disaster which can be constructed even in a small space of an escaping side and requires no limit in number of stories of a building to provide.
CONSTITUTION: A first single-point adjustable suspension scaffold 3 is liftably arranged on a wall 1a of a building 1, while being guided by first and second guide rails 8, 9. Yokes 12, 13 whose ends are connected each other in a U-form, the remaining ends are opposed to each other, are installed on a position of a surface 3a of the scaffold 3 opposite to the wall 1a. A pair of permanent magnets 15, 16, respectively being an S-pole and an N-pole, are opposingly arranged on inner side of the opposed surfaces of the yokes to form a magnetic circuit. In addition, a longitudinally extending aluminum strip-like electric conductive body 18 is projectingly arranged on a wall of a multistory building. The electric conductive body is inserted between the permanent magnets under a non-contact condition. When the scaffold descends, the perment magnets and the electric conductive body are relatively moved and the electric conductive body cuts a magnetic flux. A lifting control force is applied to the scaffold, accordingly.
