To provide a fire extinguisher of a garbage collection vehicle which makes a fire extinguishing gas quickly reach quenching density in a garbage storage box and maintains the gas for a specified time.
The fire extinguisher 10 of the garbage collection vehicle 1 has a high pressure gas container 11 into which fire extinguishing gas is enclosed, and a flow controller 20 the gas emission nozzle 14 of which is provided on connected connection piping 15 and emits the fire extinguishing gas into the garbage storage box 2 provided with a flow inlet and a flow outlet of the fire extinguishing gas. The flow controller 20 has a body 21, a valve body 24 which is movably arranged on an inner flow path 27 of the body 21, and stops at either a first position at which a large amount of the fire extinguishing gas flows or a second position at which a small amount of the fire extinguishing gas flows, and a switching mechanism 30 switching the stop position of the valve body 24 between the first and second positions. The switching mechanism 30 stops the valve body 24 at the first position from an emission start time of the fire extinguishing gas supplied from the high pressure gas container 11 to a specified time, and then switches the stop position of the valve body 24 from the first position to the second position after the specified time passes.
